Bringing Care and Connection to the Elderly
The Season for Seniors drive is our way of supporting the elderly in the Bronkhorstspruit area and surrounding communities. Many of these seniors live in old age homes, without family or friends to visit them. Some have been sadly abandoned, while others have relatives who simply cannot afford to care for them.
This year, our Season for Seniors drive is raising funds to host a Thanksgiving lunch for the elderly who often find themselves alone at this time of year.
Many of these seniors live in old age homes with few or no visits from family or friends. Some have sadly been abandoned, while others have family who simply cannot afford to care for them. The holidays can be particularly lonely and disheartening for many elderly individuals.
The initiative aims to give them a day to look forward to: an outing to African Hills, a welcoming Thanksgiving lunch and time spent enjoying the farm, sharing stories and making connections. This excursion gives them new experiences to share and helps them feel valued and included among their peer group.
Our Animal Sanctuary residents will also be part of the day, offering seniors the opportunity to spend time with them. Many old age homes do not allow pets, and the opportunity to interact with the animals and enjoy their company is a deeply meaningful highlight for many who attend.
We are also collecting donations for small goodie bags for the seniors to take home after the meal, filled with some small treats to enjoy after the day has passed.

Last year, thanks to the incredible generosity of our supporters, we were able to put together over a hundred gift bags filled with essential items. The gratitude from the recipients was overwhelming and served as a reminder of how fortunate most of us are.
